Thomas L. Phillips (Director/Screenwriter/Producer) is a multi-award winning filmmaker who has spent the last decade in Hollywood working as a Director, Editor, Producer, Screenwriter and Acting Coach. After receiving his MFA in Film/Television Production from Chapman University, he has not stopped working in the industry that he loves.

Directly after film school Thomas and his friends put all the money they had into his first feature film Special dEaD. The horror/comedy became an instant cult classic and has been screened all over the world and released domestically and internationally on DVD.

Special dEaD is currently being adapted into a feature length animated film by Titmouse and Producer Jeff Katz (Snakes on a Plane, Shoot Em Up, X-Men: Wolverine & Freddy Versus Jason).

For his second feature film Rattle Basket, Thomas went in the complete opposite direction in genre and subject matter. While he enjoyed directing a horror/comedy his first time out, he wanted to make a movie that meant something to him, a movie that was personal, and that is how Rattle Basket came to be. Rattle Basket is a dramedy about characters, situations and subject matter that everyone can relate to.

Besides directing, Thomas has also made a name for himself as an editor. He has edited television programs for ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, FOX, The Discovery Channel and The Travel Channel. Hi, Melanie. Sorry I “oops-ed” and called you “Marianne” by mistake when I emailed to thank you and Thomas for the audition opportunity (as Connie).

Congrats on y’all’s progress so far. So happy for Johnnie McPhail. The camera loves his face.

Terrific that you’re filming in Oxford! Great locations.

A few summers ago, I shot/wrote/acted in one of the segments of a little 15-minute horror/comedy “group effort” short (“Squirrel”) we filmed as part of an Ole Miss’ weekend workshop guerilla film school. Really funny plot once I convinced the kids we had to have a “beginning, middle, and an end”. Would love to take the concept and shoot it “for real.” Huge market these days for that type genre.

Anyway, if y’all still need a fab Makeup Artist, call me.

    Terri

  2. Trine Fjordholm says:

    To whom it may concern,
I am a student at Ole Miss and will be headed back to Oxford in about a month. I doubt I have any talents deemed necessary for the film, but I would love to volunteer my time wherever help is needed. Please contact me through my school email, I can’t wait to hear from you and help out in any way I can!
    -Trine
