Heading to Hoboken IFF

We are on our way out the door to escape the 100 degree weather in Mississippi to enjoy cooler weather and even cooler people in Hoboken, NJ this week. Our film will have the premiere of its new cut at the Hoboken International Film Festival on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Teaneck Cinemas.

Heading to Crossroads

We are heading down to Jackson, Miss today for a screening of the film. We are excited about spending a fun weekend down at the Crossroads Film Festival and hope you can make it out! Where I Begin screens at 5:20 on Sunday but there are lots of great films before us, so please check out their full line up!

We are excited to have an unofficial work in progress screening at the Oxford Film Festival this weekend before we begin our festival tour of the film. The movie will play on Friday along with Jeffrey Ruggles’ “Queens Day” at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 and 4 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 13.

The film is not in competition but we would love feedback! Try and get there early as a line is expected right before the film starts. We will see you there!

We will also have t-shirts, DVDs and soundtracks for sale at the filmmaker merchandise table all weekend!

Where I Begin t-shirts now available!

The final touches to “Where I Begin” are still underway and we will begin submitting to festivals to begin a spring festival run. Before we get started, we are happy to announce the pre-order availability of the “Where I Begin” t-shirt, the design from artist Katherine Rhodes Fields. The shirt was worn throughout the entire film by lead actor Alex Walters. To pre-order your shirt (to be mailed in January), click here.

Where I Begin – Beginning again

It has been a while as we have been buried in post-production work. We achieved picture lock recently and have our score being worked on right now. We are beginning festival submissions at the beginning of December and have over 90 festivals we are considering submitting to over 2011. We will begin with a work in progress screening at the Oxford Film Festival on Feb 10-13, 2011 before finishing any final work on the film before the world premiere (TBA).

That’s a wrap, teaser trailer now available

After wrap on Friday, Thomas L. Phillips worked on our first official teaser trailer which you can see below. We had an amazing three weeks with our cast and crew. The talent and dedication of everyone involved kept Thomas and me (Melanie) going no matter what hit us. As a team, we worked like clockwork and our actors were at the top of their game. Now we head to the editing room. Wish us luck!

Where we near the end

We’ve been moving right along this week. After losing $4,000 to a major problem at one of the locations, we were able to raise about $2,000 of the needed funds and hope to secure the rest soon. We have been filming non-stop every day. We wrap on Friday with final Jacob scenes. Today will be a special treat with Candice Barley (Haddy) and Johnny McPhail (Ace) in Charleston, Miss.

Last night, the amazing and talented actresses, T. Lynn Mikeska (Jill, pictured above) and Elizabeth Connelly (Kristen), wrapped after filming at the wonderful Wayne and Mary Margaret Andrews house. The Andrews also fed us tacos and chocolate pie and kept our guests watching the filming happy (and mostly quiet).

After we recover this weekend and get our last actors and crew home, we plan to rest a few days before Thomas L. Phillips jumps into editing. There is where the real work begins as scenes come together, sound is synched up and we begin work on the music (our favorite part!).

Special shout out to the Oxford Town who has let co-writer and producer Melanie Addington ramble about the production all month. The final part of the series runs today and is available for free all over town. A special Oxford Living will also run in the Oxford Eagle tomorrow and another story in the Daily Mississippian next week.
